Nothing Personal

With this series, I consider the interplay between internal and external worlds in the sense of personal and collective experiences. The window acts as a threshold between these two seemingly separate states.

I find a sense of peace and optimism in the view of a sunlit window. Not wanting to disrupt this calming silence, I chose not to approach the subject as a photographer, instead creating paintings based on street view images that I found online. These residential windows are available to view by anyone with an internet connection, yet I felt this subject was too private to impose upon with my camera.

In attemptingĀ to make accurate representationsĀ from low resolution, distorted images, I explore the judgements we subconsciously make that are based on similarly limited information, surface appearance and our beliefs.
